When will one-size diapers start fitting my baby?

hi! Still pregnant...but I'm hoping for a baby smaller than my husband's birth weight which was 10lb 4oz!!!

He was 7 lbs 7 oz. I had a nice fit with one sizes around 12 lbs, 6-8 weeks. We tried govia, grobaby, goodmama, and bumgenius.

Rae was 8 lbs. 7 ounces when she was born (7 lbs 13 oz at her lowest). We havent tried OS yet, but shes long and skinny. Only 9 lbs14 oz, but 23 inches long at 9 weeks. We'll be trying BG 4.0 as our first OS. For now, shes still in XS covers and sized BGs.

8#4oz & 8lbs If bG 3.0 count as OS, we started using them around 9-10lbs, but have used MEOS with good success at about 2-3 months. They are workhorses, so easy to take care of, just need big covers. Mother

My babies have been 8-3, 7-7, and 8-3 respectively. I didn't try one size's with any of them until they were much bigger. I have some Rumparooz that I hope to be able to use with with our newest baby (due any day) once her cord falls off.

Her big sister's bumGenius one-size started to fit her at about 8-9 lbs (5-6 weeks)--that is, she could wear them, but they were really too big and bulky to wear under anything but a nightgown. They fit fine at about 10 lbs. However, we had 2 dozen infant prefolds and 6 Thirsties covers that fit her great from the time her umbilical cord fell off. Hi! I never cloth diapered a new born. DS was 10 lbs 5 oz at birth though so it makes me wonder if a OS would've fit him at birth.

I started cloth diapering my littlest at 6 weeks. He was 8 pounds 9 ounces at birth and like Lilli's baby was around 11or 12 pounds by the time I tried the one size diapers. What worked for me then was a prefold and Thirsties duo wrap cover. He's now three months old and wears a one size bumGenius 3.0 perfectly though I still go back to the old prefolds on occassion.

The Thirsties XS covers were a little bigger than the size 1s on the smallest setting (although they are advertised to dip below the umbilicus, on our daughter the XS covers did cover the umbilical cord, so we used disposables for that first week). She is just outgrowing the Thirsties Duo size 1s and the XSs now, at 6 mohths, so they were well worth the investment.

My son was 6 pounds and 3 ounces at birth.... One size diapers started fitting my guy around 10 pounds and that was a sun baby that I had borrowed from a friend......

Ethan was 7lbs 2oz. He didn't fit in one size until he was 12 lbs at about 4 months. We use BG 3.0 and Fuzzibunz.

Intending to try OS with the baby we're trying to conceive. We didnt start CDing tho with our first until he was 2 years old.

DS was 7 lbs 11 oz at birth. I was given a BG diaper when he was 4 weeks old and it fit him then. He was about 10 pounds at the time. His umbilical stump had already fallen off- at about 3 weeks.

Nathan was 7lbs 12 oz but my Sunbaby OS diapers didn't fit (even on the smallest setting) until about 10lbs. We still use Sunbaby and I have an old school Ooga Booga OS that I use.

I wish I knew! I didn't start CDing until my son was 10 months old. He was 22lbs at 10 months so we started out in OS and larges! Hopefully there will be another baby, then I will CD from birth!

I am sure that he could have used it before then because we didn't have to adjust it to the smalllest size for it to fit. We just hadn't tried one before he was that age.

My first was 6lbs8oz, my second was 8lbs3oz. Neither could wear any OS dipes that I tried until they were almost 2 months old. I tried BumGenius, FuzziBunz, and Tiny Tush. Forget the Tiny Tush, they were too big until my daughter (first born) was about a year old. Huge. The FuzziBunz OS might technically fit sooner, but they are so bulky that the baby's clothes would never fit over them. My son was 7 lb, 6 oz. I think we started using BG 3.0 when he was around a month. I think with a future newborn we would get a newborn stash. It did feel like it took a while for one size diapers to start fitting well.

Did that get cut off? ...which doesn't really affect how the diaper works, but drives me nuts nonetheless. I think the BumGenius can be worn soonest. It is the trimmest and has a low rise on the smallest setting. However, I am a big fan of a prefold (or a stuffer) in a Prorap newborn cover for the first few weeks. It was perfect on both of mine.

Miles was 8 lb 8 1/2 oz, but I'm pretty sure all his weight was in his face because he had the tiniest butt and super skinny chicken legs. I tried BG 3.0 and BG AIO organic on him. Honestly can't remember what week he started wearing them, I think it was 7-8 weeks and he was around 10-11 lbs.

I didn't start cloth diapering Graem until 3 months and even then, we choose a sized pocket. He was maybe 12 lbs then and the OS diapers were still super bulky especially around his tiny waist.

Scott was 8 lbs. 13 oz at birth but we just cloth diapering a few months ago (he's 17 months). I still don't feel like one-size diapers are right for us! He has a tiny waist and thunder thighs so I feel like those 2 combos make diapering hard in general. We have only tried bottombumpers, because I am afraid to try a $20 + diaper and have it not work out :'(

Our kids were on the big side - 8lb 6 oz and 9 lb 3 oz. We don't use one size, but we found we could go right into small (rather than newborn) in just about everything, We had a few hand-me-down newborn covers that lasted about 2 weeks on our kiddos! I will say that we were able to use the same prefolds from birth to potty-training, just switch out the covers when they get too small.

Lil man was 7 lbs 13 oz at birth and started cloth around two and a half months (about 14 lbs)--big boy. Since he is larger OS worked out great at this point! We went with Fuzzbunz, GroBaby, and BG (Fuzzibunz had become the favorite).

The Happy Heiny OS were too big around the legs and leaked about 1/2 the time until just recently at 4 months, 13 lbs 13 oz (and the thighs have gotten much chubbier). The FuzziBunz have fit from the first day we tried them, we've never had a leak with them.

Luca was 9lb 1oz at birth He started fitting his FB OS shortly after his newborn diapers stopped fitting. Maybe around 3 weeks (didn't get much use out of them even though I bought A TON :) He was probably around 10lb when they started to fit. My baby was 8 pounds at birth. None of my one-size diapers fit at first. My BabyKicks Bumboo started fitting the earliest; around 1 month and 9 pounds. My Flips fit at 3 months and 12 pounds. However, my Thirsties Duo wraps were fantastic from birth. The Duo diapers weren't out yet, but maybe they would work?

My daughter was born 5weeks early at 6lbs but then dropped down to under 5 after birth. We didnt start cloth right away since she was unexpected to be born early and we still had to buy cloth. Now she is 11wks old and she wears os diapers though some of them are a bit big still. We have to find some more so we dont have to wash everynight though. Right now she is laying next to me in a os and there is a huge gap between the diaper and her belly, but we havent had any issues with leaking yet. :)

With #2 I waited until his cord was healed for the FBs at about 3-4 wks. I think prefolds would probably work on a newborn, but never tried it. Oh, and for new moms of boys, here's something that no one ever tells you: when putting on your baby's dipe, make sure his penis is pointed DOWN!!! Otherwise, he leaks

Oldest Daughter was =7lbs, and stayed tiny, we first tried BG when when she was about 6 months and 11 lbs. My second Daughter was just over 8 lbs, and she started wearing her bg around 2 months and 10 lbs, My third daughter was 9 1/2lbs, and she could have worn BG from birth, but they were a little loose around her legs. They started fitting around 1 month and 10 1/2 lbs.

Even then, we primarily used them as extras until she got a little bigger, since they tended to be more bulky. For her newborn stage we loved our Kissaluvs size 0, prefolds and covers and SposoEasys for a trimmer fit and ease of use.

My 3 boys were 9 lbs 15 oz, 9 lbs 10 oz, & 8 lbs 4 oz. I didn't start CDing until after the 3rd was 3 months. SO, I have no idea if/when the OS would fit. HOWEVER, I do plan on having a 4th so we'll see :) I have flip, snug to fit, and a WHAM OS. I think they'll work AFTER the umbilical cord comes off (I think it may rub otherwise).

I don't use one size. I use the Kissaluvs size 1 (they are a 1 size for me since my kids are skinny and potty train in them at 3years old!) and I find they don't start fitting till about 1 month.

Our second was 11 1/2 lbs. and then after exhaustive measures to keep my weight gain less..our third was still 11.0 lbs. We didn't start cloth diapering them until later, but I assume anything would have fit them :) We also assume that I'm better off to just eat my chocolate and indulge the cravings---haha!

My Silas was 7-4 at birth and our newborn diapers (made by a wahm sold on etsy) fit him for one month, he gained weight FAST and was big and chubby by 2 mos so we started with the BG AIO OS organic. I love them!

Unfortunately we didn't start until the kiddos were much older (15months and 3 yr). I wish we could have another to try out the smaller sizes instead of just OS but that probably won't happen... ;0(

My youngest was 8 lbs 8 oz at birth and I mostly used handmade fitteds or prefolds with recycled wool soakers until I finally bought a kissaluvs cotton/hemp fitted (fits 15-40 lbs) with snaps. It fit him and then and fits even better now! I think he was around 9 months old and in the 17 lb range at the time. I also tried a friend's goodmama about the same time and LOVED it!

My son was born just under 6 lbs and was 5 lbs 7 oz when we brought him home. He was about 10 pounds by 2 months and at that point we could use grobaby's on him pretty well (as a cover with a prefold inside). Rocky Mountain Diapers also fit him really early, probably around 4 weeks & 8 lbs because the legs adjust so well.

My youngest we 5lb 13 oz at birth. Rumparooz OS, BumGenius 3.0 OS, Grobaby, and Fuzzibunz OS fit him when he was 8lb's. The Rumparooz is a great fit on little babies. When he was 11 lbs he could fit BG Organic & Flip.

We have tried Mommy Touch, Drybees S, M small fit her till about 22 lbs, Bg's 3.0 those fit till about 28lbs rise is too short, Rar, Knd os, Coolabye's never fit well, Fb petit, os like the os so much better, thisties duo, swaddles m ss love it so trim and still fits, blueberry os,.

We used sized diapers up until we bought a few one size diapers at 6 months. I've heard from most that they start fitting around 9-11lbs depending on the build of your baby. At 6 months and 17lbs, we are using the middle snaps on the BG OS. My advice for a new CD-ing mom or dad would be to buy a newborn stash in a size small enough to fit below the cord and by the time they grow out of these (prob just a few weeks!), they should be ready for OS diapers!

HI! Our little guy won't be here for another few weeks. We plan on using prefolds and covers and also newborn all in ones till he's big enough for the OS diapers.

Little miss was 6 lbs and 2oz at birth. We are mainly using kissaluvs, prefolds and rumparooz. She is barely fitting in the one size rumparooz a little after she lost the cord stump.

I'm due in just a couple of weeks. Our stash is mostly OS diapers but I have prefolds and newborn size covers for the newborn stage. I figured that was the cheapest way of cloth diapering a newborn, plus the prefolds could be used later as inserts or doublers.

My babe was 5 lbs 10 oz. I tried and tried to start her in cloths... and finally broke down and bought a few newborn prefolds (which still looked ridiculous!). She didn't fit into any of our CDs till about 2 months. We went with: prefolds w/Thirsties x-small and small duowrap, GroBaby, and a few BumGenius which took a little longer till she fit those.

I can't remember what size my LO was when I started using OS diapers. Good luck though.

The one-size options really didn't fit until 12 lbs and even then they were really bulky for such a small baby. Of the ones we tried the organic BG and the gorbaby fit best earlier on(maybe 11 lbs)

We only switched to cloth right before my son's first birthday, so I don't have any newborn experience, but I'm really looking forward to trying out my FB OS next time around!

Didn't CD either of my girls but will be starting early with this little guy. I ordered a few OS covers to try but got mostly Thirsties Duo Wrap size 1s. I've never bought newborn 'sposies--DD2 went straight to 1s (9lb 8oz at birth, 10lbs at 8 days old), and DD1 was out of newborns by the time she was 2 weeks old (9lbs) and we ran out of the ones we took from the hospital. So I'm hoping the Duo Wrap 1s size down enough to use after the first fe days!

I have a range of x-sm and sm fitteds, nb prefolds, x-sm and sm AIO's and several different types of OS"s to start with! We'll see! SO, SO excited to try them all on her :)

Hi! We started using one-size diapers with our daughter when she was about 3-4 months old. My kids are on the small side, she was probably about 10-11 pounds at that point. She was only 6 lb, 5 oz at birth. As far as brands go, we used Blueberry one-size and Bumgenius 3.0s. And we're still using them today and she's 20 months old and about 21 pounds. :)

Maks was 7lbs. 6oz. He wore prefolds and size small BG AIOs until the end of his sixth month (he was a 3rd percentile baby). We started putting him in one sizes around this time because they were just too bulky before. We are die hard BG OS fans...they seemed to be the best for night time stuffing. Now we also love Rumparooz and the slim fit of a Fuzzibunz. He's still not a big baby at eleven months (ab 27 lbs).

Our daughter was 6lbs 13oz at birth. We tried fuzzibuns all in ones and kissa luv fitteds. The kissa luvs size 0 fit right away. The fuzzi buns never really fit her right and always leaked.

We never tried one-size diapers on a newborn, but had tons of issues when we switched to one-size when our son was about a year old. We are 3 months into this journey and the rumparooz are by far the best! I think they would fit a newborn and I've seen pictures of them on tiny babies, but we'll see. Interested to see how it works out with your new little one.

My son was 8.4 at birth and I think we first tried a FuzziBunz at about 2 weeks and it fit. He is growing fast though and was already over 11 pounds at 2 weeks. The Kissaluvs size 0 were a waste for us - he could only wear them a couple weeks. I didn't CD my daughter but I am sure it would have been the opposite because she was only 5.13.

My baby was 5lb 8 oz at birth and the OS diapers didn't fit great until about 3 months and 14 lbs. We have tried Gro Baby, BG organics, Fuzzibunz, and kissaluvs. My favorites and the only ones I still use are the BG organics!

My DD2 was 8lb 13oz. She did OK in the OS BG3.0 pocket I have at about 4wks...... but mostly we did prefolds + sized covers - so I kind of forgot about the OS pockets I had.

Hello! My little man was a whopping 9 lbs, 14.2 oz at birth! If I had known about FuzziBunz or Rumperooz OS, I could have probably used them from the start, but I just discovered them last week... We had some BumGenius OS from hubby's mom and they are kinda bulky in the front, but they do the job. I've also tried BumGenius 3.0 sized, BottomBumpers, GroBaby/Via, prefolds and covers, Kissaluvs and covers (for night time) and Kushies. Love the FuzziBunz OS - they will be going to daycare with E

I have cloth diapered two newborns. The 1st round, I didn't know as much. She was 8 lb 7 oz, and bumgenius OS 3.0 are all we had. They "fit" almost right away, but started working well around 6 weeks. Before 6 weeks, either her thighs weren't full enough, or there was enough bulk in between her legs (even w/ the newborn insert), that it sort of pushed the diaper away, and she would leak thru the legs if I layed her down to sleep. i haven't cd'ing a newborn, so i don't know when they start fitting. i'm not brave enough to cd at the nb stage. maybe if we have another, i'll give it a go. ;) i've found os start working decently around 15 pounds though.

She was 7 lbs at birth. I think around 3 months the one size started really being handy. There are a few local cloth diaper makers, so far I have only tried theirs.

I use MEOS and they didn't start to fit my baby girl until she was about 10lbs. She was 6 lbs 14 oz when she was born. We used disposables for about 6 weeks because we didn't know any better! Then we started her in small g diapers with prefolds inside and we had lots of leaks because she had skinny legs. Once we switched to "real" cloth diapers, we had no leaks at all! It's been great. I totally plan on buying some newborn size cloth for baby #2.

I didn't cloth diaper my first at all. My 2nd and 3rd were cloth diapered from birth. My 2nd weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. We tried bumGenius, Baby Kanga, Blueberry, Wonderoo, Haute Pockets, and I'm sure others. None of the diapers worked on him as a newborn. The bumGenius and Blueberry were the first to fit at about 12-13 lbs (2 months). My 3rd was smaller, 6 lbs. 15 oz. The one size Bum Genius and Fuzzi Bunz don't leak but they still look a little ridiculous on her. My husband calls it her sumo wrestler look. The sized thirsties and the prefolds with a cover work a little better at this stage.

my message was cut off... On my 3rd we tried bumGenius, Blueberry, GroBaby, Happy Heinys, and Goodmamas. Other than the GroBaby (which technically fit right away), the Happy Heiny was the first to fit at about 10 lbs (6-8 weeks). The bumGenius and Blueberry starting fitting around 12-13lbs (3 months). The problem is that newborns have super skinny legs and all the diapers gap. I've learned that it really is necessary to buy newborn-sized diapers.

Our daughter was 8 lbs 6 oz at birth. We started the grobaby os after a week and a half, when her cord fell off. She looks a bit comical with her big bum, but the legs and waist fit fine with no leaking.

Gabe was 6lbs. 6oz. when he was born, so he was to tiny for prefolds or the Bumgenius diapers I got off my registry. By the time he was 2 months old, about 7.5 lbs we were able to use the Bumgenius and pre-folds. I love my Bumgenius diapers. Now he is now 14 months old and still going strong! Although we are now using 2 doublers at night and they work great for my heavy night wetter! Thanks for the help Lili! I love HBC.

My second was 7 lbs 14 oz at birth and my BG 3.0's didn't fit her till she was almost 4 months old and just 11 lbs. I should mentions my kids are very long and skinny. Baby #3 is only 12 days old so she still has her umbilical cord healing. I got some GroBaby to try on her because they seem to be smaller than the BG's. right now my second is on a Med. setting in the BG's and a Lrg in the Grobaby so I think they will fit sooner. My first child was 7# 12 oz, second child 7# 8 oz, third child 9# 1 oz. I didn't start CD baby #3 until he was 3 months. And he wore medium covers. I didn't get a OS until he was 15 months old and already was on the last snaps. I am due this November and I hope to use the OS diapers by 2 months. My youngest was 8 lbs 7 oz. at birth....I think one size diapers started to fit him around 12 lbs...which he was at 4-6 weeks....he gained weight very quickly, so he was able to fit them a little sooner. The one size brands that I used at that age include: bum genius, baby kangas and muttiqan. Mutts, while I love them, run very small IMO.

My baby was 7 lbs 6 oz at birht. He probably would have fit into the one size diapers by about 11 lbs which for us was at about 4 weeks. He grew fast! We didn't try though because we had a lot of smalls. The x-tra smalls fit for such short time for us they were a waste.

My twins were 5.3 & 6.6 at birth, I was able to start using fuzzi bunz OS when they were about 6.5 lbs, so right after the cord fell off for my son, and about 3 weeks for my daughter. They get really small!

My son was 7.1 lbs at birth. We used Snap-EZ size smalls once he was a month old (had to wait for his cord to fall off because the diapers went up to high). I got one-size Snap-Ez diapers when he was 3 months old and they fit. I stopped using them once I got enough fuzzi bunz and Flips because they left elastic marks around his belly. Fuzzi bunz one size didn't exist yet.

My youngest son was 6lbs 10 oz at birth. I am a recent convert to CDing because the little guy has super sensitive skin and had a rash from day one -- until recently and a drawer full of creams, ointments and potions. We went straight to Rumparooz as our choice of diapers. I picked them because as Adam describes them "the most over made diaper ever" they work well for us and we have never had a leak!

Sadly we didn't use cloth until our LO was six months old. The OS were still on the medium setting with him (chunky thighs!) which I was glad about, so I imagine the OS diapers would have fit him at three months. If we have another, I will for SURE be CDing at birth. Cross your fingers for me! :)

My daughter was 6lbs 10oz. I didnt start cloth diapering untl she was around 5 months old. I went strate into FuzziBunz OS diapers.At that time my daughter weighted about 12-15 lbs. I also use Doopsy diapers that are brand new on the market.

The only one we cloth-diapered from birth was my youngest. He was over 8 lbs at birth and I think he was around 12 lbs before the OS diapers started fitting him well.

I didn't start cloth diapering until my son was about 4 months, but am excited to try some of our rumparooz the next time around.

My babies were both 8lb 9 oz. We used prefolds and thirsties when both were little, so I'm not sure when a OS would have fit either. We are currently using mainly GroBaby/Via, but also have a Katydid OS that seems as though it would work well for a wide range of sizes.

We didn't start using cloth until my son was five months old. Hopefully with our next baby we can start much, much earlier!

My babies were 7.14, 9.4, and 7.1 I didn't cloth diaper till my third and I didn't use os until he was about 6 weeks. I have tried bum genius first and those worked ok once his umbilical cord fell off but not great until he was about 9 weeks. Then I tried twinkletoes at 10 weeks and ebber deeber just recently and I love both so far!

Our baby was 8 lbs 3 oz. at birth, and we started him in Bumgenius Elementals OS diapers at 3 and a 1/2 weeks. He was 10 lbs at that time and once I realized he was big enough to try the OS diapers, we already had to snap the waist one snap out from the middle - I had missed our chance at getting the diaper on its smallest possible setting!

Carter was 7lbs 15.8oz (seriously, why couldn't they have just told me 8 lbs...lol!) at birth, and os diapers started to fit him at 12 weeks, he was just 11 lbs then, but we found that sized diapers (applecheeks in particular) fit him wonderfully!!! and not too bulky!! The OS diapers we tried on him were fuzzibunz OS (which definitely fit him the best of all the OS, and the soonest), smartipants, Rumparooz ,BG AIO, Blueberry minky, Kwaii Baby, and the grobaby shells and inserts!

Avery was 8 13 and I would say it would've fit well around 12ish pounds, but we've been using KL0 with Thirsties covers.

My baby was 9.8 at birth. We used Kissaluvs sz 0 and xs Thirsties covers for about 3 weeks. Then BumGenius fit her. GroBaby fit her too.

We have BumGenius, FuzziBunz, Charlie Bananas, and BubuBibi (from Ebay) and none of them fit our newborn (6 lbs 15lbs ) who is now 9 lbs 6 oz at 9 weeks old and about 22 inches long. The disposable inserts for the CBs are ridiculously huge; they look like the post-partum pads they gave *me*! All of the covers are still way too big.

I used smallest size Fuzzibunz diapers and they fit my long skinny baby (8lbs) until he was 6 months old. I used them right away. I did notice my newborn never slept as well as in disposables. He would cry every time he peed which seemed like every 30 minutes, so he never napped long. They might have fit longer, but they were borrowed so I returned them and purchased BG 4.0 one size. I Loved the BG's and he even slept all night in them without waking at 6 months old. I think it is nice to have a couple cute newborn diapers for sure. I live in a warm climate so he was often just in his cute nappy; great for photos too! My wish list would be 12 xs fitted diapers for the first 6 months for my skinny babies.
