Natural
laundry detergent in a powder soap that's biodegradable
Charlie’s
Soap isn’t scared of poop!
~~~ From Judy & Brandon – We do use Charlie's Soap Laundry Powder for all of our laundry, and love it! We follow a typical diaper routine and do use a hot wash, rather than warm as they suggest below. You'll learn to love laundry that just smells clean, rather than full of perfume! ~~~
Charlie's
Soap Laundry Powder is a laundry detergent originally developed for
use in textile quality control labs. It is truly the answer to
Washing Instructions (from Charlie's):
The
Preparation
1.
Clean your washer of all residues from other detergents. This can be
accomplished by:
~
Washing a load of rags or daily-use towels already cleaned in
Charlie’s Soap.
~
Or by wiping down the drum with Charlie’s Soap Kitchen & Bath.
2.
Strip your diapers and inserts. You may want to strip their clothes
and bedding.
~
Wash with 1 FULL DOSE of Charlie’s Soap following care
instructions.
~
Repeat that at least 4 times to fully remove old detergent residues.
The
Daily Routine
1.
Clean your washer as indicated above. Yes, again. Read on to see why.
~
If you are new to Charlie’s Soap and use it for all your laundry (a
wise choice!), old residues are still
coming out of your regular clothes. They can contaminate your diapers and cause all sorts of
problems. After a few weeks, you can skip this step.
~
If you are using another detergent for your regular clothes, that
residue will contaminate the diapers.
You will have to always clean the washer.
2.
Wash the diapers following care instructions.
~
Rinse away solids.
~
Wash on warm with the FULL DOSE of Charlie’s Soap, lots of water
and plenty of agitation. Add
disinfectant. Bacteria from waste can be harmful, so make sure you
kill it. A tablespoon of bleach,
4 tbsp, of peroxide or 4 tbsp. of vinegar (but only in the rinse)
should suffice. Sunning and
boiling also work.
~
Rewash on cold with at least the full dose of Charlie’s Soap to
ensure a deep clean.
The
Follow-up – Just a few suggestions based on info we’ve picked up
over the years
~
Use diaper creams to prevent diaper rash. Treat the diapers
afterwards with Charlie’s Soap Laundry
Pre-Spray to remove the creams and restore the diapers to working
order.
~
Use warm water, not hot. Only “sanitary” cycles are hot enough to
do any good.
~
Agitate inserts for pocket diapers. Use a low-water setting, extra
agitation and extra rinses to clean
these. You may have to wash them twice.
~
Add Charlie’s Soap Booster if you have hard water.
