love them

We bought these to use as liners for our two year old in his nap and night diapers (he is day potty trained). He's a heavy wetter and these have been great at preventing leaks. There is a lot of ammonia in the morning, but so far no big problems with residual ammonia, although they do get rinsed right away with the diaper sprayer (he usually has poop in the diapers anyway).

Mixed Feelings

I bought these hoping to solve three problems: nighttime over-saturation, compression leaks, and overwhelming morning ammonia (due to sleeping 12-13 hours straight at night). Unfortunately it has only solved the first two. My son was leaking out of his nighttime diaper stuffed with a prefold and full size Bum Genius microfiber insert. We switched to a prefold with a hemp doubler and no more leaking. We were able to get a better fit because it was less bulky and no more compression leaks (an issue with microfiber). Also great for daytime diapers if you anticipate a long nap or have a long car ride. However, I have a hard time getting the hemp to come clean in the wash, so because I use these primarily at night, I have to soak them separately and rinse them by hand before washing with my other diapers to keep ammonia at bay. None of my other inserts (microfiber, cotton prefolds) give me this issue. Also, after prepping the hemp, they really shrunk and shrivel up even more in the dryer. I wish these were longer. Line drying helps them maintain their shape/length, but then they are as stiff as a board!

happy mom

These work great to capture the overnight wetness for my 20 mo. old boy. We were starting to have leaks and these did the trick. We had been adding a prefold to the flip diaper overnight, but one hemp liner absorbed much more and it's nice and thin so we can adjust the cover to fit better too.
